Equipment

Some people have asked my what kind of equipment I use to take my pictures. The cameras and film are listed below.

Three Canon 600 series cameras are my workhorses. They get carried around everywhere. Since I'm not the person to treat my cameras like vulnerable babys they got some scratches but since these full-metal cameras are very robust they still function like they just came out of the factory. A big difference compared to the modern cameras in this price range. The autofocus is a bit slower but most of the time I use manual focus anyway. Recently got an EOS 1000 for a very good price. Really meant as a light weight travel camera but not sure if it will survive living in my backpack for too long :o(  Maybe I should sell it again or just keep it to give away as a present to someone.

For the digital part of picture taking I use a Minolta slide scanner to scan in the 35mm negatives, a Canon D2400U for the medium format and large format negatives and use PictureWindow for the tweaking. Picture Window has not as many options as Photoshop but it has all you need for photography and it's much less expensive. The panoramas are stitched together using PhotoVista from LivePicture. Apart from some annoying things such as having to crop all images to the same format, it works pretty well and still works after many years and many PCs.

    Adjust your monitor

In order to be able to see my pictures at their best, or any images on the web for that matter, take a few seconds to adjust your monitor. You should be able to see all the different shades of grey of the bar below, that it, the blocks are all the same size, make sure you see the difference between black and near-black and white and near-white.
