As the people move from the poor countryside to the larger towns and cities, many houses in the farm areas are left to themselves and slowly become ruins. Our summer 2001 holiday took us to the south of the Peloponese where we stayed in a restored old farmhouse. Some of the other houses around were still in use, some others bought by foreigners and (partly-) restored while others were not being used anymore. Especially those last buildings were nice to visit, usually the doors are not locked, noone really bothers and as long as you don't damage anything I thought it would be fine to have a look inside... |
